Quineañera Tradions And High Heel ShoesIn many Hispanic cultures, the Quinceañera party is given to celebrate a young girl’s transformation from girlhood to womanhood. Much like the Americanized “Sweet Sixteen” birthday party, the Quinceañera party occurs when the girl reaches the age of 15. In many Quinceañera sections of any party store, you will see Quinceañera favors that read “Sweet 15” rather than “Sweet 16”. There are many Quinceañera traditions that go along with the celebration, but one of the more prominent themes is that of shoes. Click on your favorite shoe!
The Quinceañera party usually involves a mass honoring the young girl followed by an elaborate celebration which features food, dancing, Quinceañera party favors, and a tremendous cake. One of the most important Quinceañera traditions includes the wardrobe of the young girl. She will wear a gorgeous evening gown, beautiful shoes, make-up, and a tiara. The Quinceañera ceremony will start off with the girl wearing flat shoes. Traditionally, the mother will bring out a pair of new high heel shoes on a satin pillow and place them on the honoree’s feet, just before she dances a waltz wither father. In other cultures, this is slightly different as the mother will place a tiara on the girl’s head as her father places the high heel shoes on her feet.
There are many Quinceañera shoes to choose from. If the girl is not used to wearing high heel shoes, it might be best to stick to shoes have no more than a two-inch heel. There will be plenty of time later on life for her to practice with heels much higher than that. Aside from the heel height, the style of the shoe can vary to be pure white satin, a strappy leather sandal, or even a shoe that is dyed to match the gorgeous Quinceañera gown. Dyed shoes are a popular favorite among young girls and their mothers. A Variaty of Flat Shoes!
